Ok get ready because I am about to say something that you would never expect to hear about a book on economics. I couldn't put it down. That's right I said it. This is not just another boring dusty textbook that you read for the information but find no joy in it. This book is so well written that it makes you keep turning the page and you forget that you are learning something. In this book you get the history of economics including the different economic theories and how they came about. You also get cause and effect and the flaws of the individual economic theories. The author also provides us with his take on what should be done. Very well written and definitely worth a read. I highly recommend it.

I'm really enjoying this book. It is full of facts and economic arguments, and yet totally interesting. I'm not an economist or in finance, but I am rather business minded. I remember the guns and butter of my high school economics class, and that's about it. This book both makes easy sense of complicated economic principals and theories, and keeps your interest while doing it.
I read "Three Handed Economist" on the advice of a friend. I never took an economics class in grade school or college, so I have no background with economics. I was surprised when the book was so easy to read. It really broke down the issues into something that was understandable and was easy to read. I agree with the idea that different situation are require different measures. However, I found the conclusion troubling. I do not want to give away the information contained in the book, but the ending was surprising. I do not agree with what was proposed. The author was brilliant but a bit controversial. Overall, I would give the book two thumbs up because it is a great book that really breaks down the issues. It really makes you think about the issues of poverty and economics. At the same time, it is written to make any one really stop and think about his or her ideology and how ideology impacts the actions taken to alleviate the world's problems. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to understand and challenge existing theories.
I opened to the first page, shuddering in fear, remembering my first and only course in Economics. But darn it, I wanted to become a more enlightened voter and consumer. I SHOULD be able to understand what makes the world's nations turn, WEEE!! I finished this wonderfully written, easy to digest book, and it didn't hurt at all. In fact, I ENJOYED it and I'm better for reading it. Isn't that what makes a great book?
I haven't read the entire book but I had Mr. Flowers as my microeconomics professor. A great teacher. Very professional, knows his stuff, and very personable.
Any young economist searching for enlightenment need search no longer. Three Handed Economist was a thoroughly educating and entertaining read. The purpose of the book was to present a reparation for world poverty. I opened this work expecting an intelligible report explaining both micro and macroeconomic situations experienced around the world and throughout history, and received exactly that. It painted a clear picture of foreign aid on both a global and domestic scale, as well as a critique of required government involvement.

It begins with a summation of the study of economics as a whole, as well as a brief history therein. Following this fairly compendious account, arguments were given for and against a gold backed currency, and free market economies were thoroughly contrasted with socialistic systems. A theoretical correction for world poverty organized by the United Nations concluded the book, and I was given exactly what I expected an overarching foundation in economic theory.

This book was supported well, each point logically followed to the next, and each subject addressed was affirmed by an abundance of information. Flowers cited reports from the CIA, reports from the United Nations, very specific accounts of socio-economic examples from Chile and the Czech Republic, as well as many logical doctrines provided by Karl Marx in Das Kapital. His solution to world poverty was for the United Nations to allocate all NGO (Non-governmental organizations) funds effectively, thus eliminating misdirected foreign aid.

This work related directly to the lectures from my Microeconomics class in a number of ways. It helped solidify my understanding of currency, foreign aid, the necessity of government involvement in a nations currency, and an analysis of war from a purely economic standpoint. The sections on minimum and maximum wage were clear and helpful. The elucidating history of economics clearly showed the need for a three handed Economist. Over all, this book was both instructive and edifying.
Looking at the cover, I was a bit skeptical. However, once I read the book it was clear what and why that symbolism was chosen. Certainly not conspiratorial in nature.

There has not been a more important book written in modern history. The author explains the problems our country and world face, and he offers solutions rather than just being a naysayer. The explanation of common economic themes was interesting and never boring. The middle part of the book explains different economic theories that are TOTALLY easy to understand by the average reader. Finally, he finishes with information on world poverty and development that I had never considered before.

This book is the best book one could read, if they are not into economics or other politics. It explains everything in an understandable, succinct, and interesting way. I highly recommend.
