This book was fast-paced and moved constantly, and let me assure you; there were no details overlooked. This whole story explodes with humor, heat, and twists and turns from the beginning to end. That's the main reason I kept me turning those pages. The major feud between this two families over land was often very funny, and other times they were so riveting. So much so; that I couldn't put the book down for fear of missing something major.I loved Kiersten's feistiness and her bravery. She sure stood up to those rich Texan's and their snoody attitudes. And Cleve....what a dreamboat! He was the perfect hero as far, as I'm concerned. I thought her gay friend, Nate was hysterical. I absolutely loved all the banter between all the characters.

"This was my first novel by Autumn Piper. I enjoyed her writing style and her characters. There was such conflict in the families that the plot was dynamic. It was a book I could not put down. The myriad of characters were diverse and helped to create the storyline. The sensuality was sizzling and covered both male/female and male/male situations."
"This book was fast-paced and moved constantly. There were no details overlooked. The conflicts between the Howells and the Days, as well as those of Kiersten and the friends of her previous husband, were suspenseful and dangerous. There was never a dull moment."
"I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys conflict and love together with suspense. I know you will enjoy this book. I intend to look for other works by this author." - 4 1/2 Hearts, Brenda Talley
Kiersten is not going to let some low down chauvinistic Texan take away her heritage no matter what it might cost her. She has given up her job and modern conveniences to be able to keep her family land. Too bad the gorgeous foreman, Cleve, next door is associated with the Howell family.
Cleve is stunned to meet the beauty next door. He is also stunned to find out the tactics that his father and his father's cohorts have taken to try and get the land that Kiersten owns. So when she mistakes him for a foreman and not a Howell he lets it go. But after at least one intimate encounter he knows he should have come clean. Now it might be too late for him to finally have something of his own.
Suddenly, Kiersten's tough fight is tougher now that she might be pregnant, danger appears to be closing in and she no longer knows who she can trust. I mean she has fallen in love with one of the despicable Howell's after all.
I found Lone Star Trouble a fun and fast paced Cowboy romance story, or is that Cowgirl romance? I love how Ms. Piper is able to show how some antiquated beliefs are still forced on others. I think the stage was set for a great western story with the background that Ms. Piper set in place. In fact, I hope to see many more stories from her. I think that Lone Star Trouble is a great read and that you too will enjoy it.

Set on a sheep herding ranch in Colorado, Lone Star Trouble delivers what it promises. Kiersten Day has trouble in spades. She's trying to hang onto her sheep ranch while a wealthy Texan tries to bully her off her property, first using zoning taxes and court proceedings then moving to more underhanded methods, or so it seems.
Kiersten never backs down, and she never lets her feelings for a certain cowboy dilute the payback she dishes out to the wealthy Texan, even if that certain cowboy happens to be the wealthy Texan's son.
Bullying Texans aren't all Kiersten has to battle. There's also confusing feelings a plenty flying around her mountain top ranch, since the certain Texan wins her affections but a long-time friend reveals feelings of his own. Kiersten fights a local bad guy with a grudge from her past, worry over a loved one's health, and her growing feelings for a man whose family has been trying to kick her off her land for years. It's not an easy road, but Kiersten is up for the challenge.
From the setting Autumn Piper writes to her characters lives and passions, Lone Star Trouble was genuine through and through. The romance was sweet and sexy and filled with its own tension that resolves beautifully in the end.
This is my second book by Autumn Piper, and just like the first, this one took me on an emotional journey where I felt totally behind the heroine and HAD to see her succeed in the way that suited her. Definitely a keeper read. I'll be picking up more from this talented author.
Overall, I feel this is a really enjoyable story. The plot was great, well developed and it keeps you interested throughout the book.
I also really liked all of the characters...except Kiersten! This book would've easily been a 4 star for me but I couldn't get past her attitude and bitchiness. By the time I was 10% into the story, I could tell she was full of hate and anger, and then throw in some best friend "drama" that felt completely out of place (in my own personal opinion only) and I honestly wasn't sure if I would finish this book. It got better but every time I started getting into the story, Kiersten would get pissed off and fly off half cocked about something and it just irritated me to no end. Granted, most of the things she was upset were valid issues but the way it was handled/written, she's just not the type of person I would choose to be around in real life and I definitely don't want it in the stories I read.
Totally enjoyed the strong female character. Strong family bonds. Creepy bad guys.
I love it when stories crack me up, and this one has many LOL moments. I loved the sassy Sheep rancher who doesn't back down to the big boys and her inner dialogue had me giggling all of the time and the romance was just sooo sweet,Throw in there a gay best friend and lots of fun friends and family and this made for a great read with suspense to boot!!A delightful read and I look forward to more from this author.
