This is the first book in a series a novelettes. There are 8 total, but the first 4 are the main story while books 5-8 are alternate points of view that tie into the main story. I chose to review books 1-4 together since they are rather serialized. I have not read books 5-8 yet, but will probably get to those later.I found this series quite enjoyable. The main character Jeremiah was very likeable and in my opinion, in some ways kind of a fresh perspective on a male character. The way his character was written was very respectful of women and I liked that. He was very much concerned about being responsible and doing the right thing. He certainly could have taken advantage of the situation with Noemi, but he was respectful of her as a person. The fact that this was written by a man made it even better. It was a sweet, clean romance in a space opera setting.
I liked that Jeremiah went through all the confused and uncertain feelings that can come with falling in love, becoming a father, understanding the opposite sex, and communicating with the person you love, in his case made even more difficult by a language barrier. I did feel like Jeremiah and Noemi could have put a lot more effort into learning each other’s languages though.
These books tell a very simple, straight forward story. That isn't really a bad thing in general, but at this point in my reading life I personally need a story to be more complex for me to give it 4 stars, which is why I gave this one 3. I do think this author has a lot of promise as he continues to hone his writing skills and I look forward to reading more from him.

Outworlder Star Wanderers Book 1 eBook Joe Vasicek Reviews
I read through this in about half an hour. It's an intriguing enough setup, but nothing about the writing or the characters really intrigued me enough to run right out and read the next installment. This is clearly part of a larger story arc, but there's not enough here to give a hint that there might be something interesting about the young woman, or a bigger story than just the two of them getting to know each other without being able to communicate. And as far as that goes, that part of the story was not nearly as interesting as Picard and the alien captain who speaks only through stories. On the plus side, there is the framework here for an interesting 'universe' in which young males are encouraged to leave home and settle down somewhere else, as a societally-enforced way to avoid inbreeding. And there are some hints of a terrible fate that has befallen earth and a mystical reverence for it; in some respects I felt there were some shadows or influences of "Hyperion" here, although not nearly as literary as that work.
I continue to look for soft science fiction stories & decided to give this a try. It was free so I figured, why not?
I'm so glad I decided to give this a read, because it's the sort of SF story that I really enjoy. This is more of a character study, but it's not at all boring, because the author really makes you care about the characters.
Jeremiah is a star wanderer who, as part of his culture, will never return to home. He's very lonely most of the time, and the author lets us in on his loneliness (something that really resonated with me). The last thing on his mind is a passenger, especially since his ship is only big enough for one person and some trading materials. But he's forced to "marry" (is he?) one of the man in charge's daughters on Megiddo Station, or he won't buy Jeremiah's coffee.
Jeremiah and his "wife," Noemi, make haste to Jeremiah's ship; there's some sort of unrest on the planet, although there aren't any details as to what exactly was going on.
We are then privy to how these two people, total strangers, neither of which speaks the other's language, manage to get along. But they do, somehow they do! Jeremiah doesn't want to take advantage of Noemi, even though she seems to be sending certain signals...still, Jeremiah keeps his distance, at least for a while, until they both come to a certain understanding.
Truly sweet and engaging.
I was taken along for a great ride that I will be continuing.
Star Wanderers Outworlder Part I, is a short 79 pages, little more than a book's introduction. All the same, it does come to a satisfying conclusion. I normally refuse to read books in sections, having to pay around a dollar for each, but I got suckered in by the tag line 'HE WANDERS THE STARS IN SEARCH OF A HOME. INSTEAD, HE GOT A GIRL WITHOUT ONE.'
Apart from what I felt to be a completely unbelievable opening scene (surely there would have been riots and stampedes to steal his ship to escape the famine, surely the father would have tried to save all of his daughters, not just one), the booklet was very well written, with two interesting characters who possessed very real emotional depth. The protagonist also proved to be a breath of fresh air by revealing a depth of moral character missing in so many books and films these days. The romance aspect was mostly handled well, considering their awkwardness and initial misunderstanding, though the protagonist seemed to reach a life-shattered conclusion a little too quickly.
This book (I hesitate to call it that, since it was so short I quite literally read it while eating breakfast at McDonalds) was fairly well written and interesting. It tells a story that itself is short, and hints at possible back stories, but is fairly linear but engaging. The ending left me a bit disappointed, and not just because it came so soon. I looked at the subsequent book -- same length. Basically $3 chapters of one decent sized book. On seeing that, I certainly will not be moving on to the sequel, it was not that good.
